Q Academy

Quantum Academy was created to fill a void in the ophthalmic industry: a lack of quality training opportunities for AR lab production personnel. Q Academy offers a full compliment of course curriculums ranging from the high level science of coatings to the basics of consumer benefits. Our objective?

Help labs improve efficiencies, reduce expenses, create top quality coatings and increase sales.

There are many ways to take advantage of Quantum Academy courses with an equal number of price points to suit your lab's needs, including many free resources available to our contract customers. Learn more about these learning opportunities at the links below.

Comprehensive Lab Training

Quantum's Comprehense Lab Training is intended to broaden lab technician knowledge through a series of modules. This in-depth coating training will give your coating personnel a better understanding of WHY they are performing the tasks and processes used to produce coatings.  This training can make an impact on the consistency and quality of your coatings, as demonstrated by labs where we have implemented the program.

Our Comprehensive Lab Training Program is designed to be hands on where ever possible, thereby reinforcing the concepts with practical application, demonstration and experimentation. Each participant will receive a manual with notes, illustrations and topical references. This training is available at your facility, Quantum or predefined locations, which meet facility requirements, upon request.

One of the great features built into the training is interaction between attendees. Many problem solving, team building and strategic activities are used as a way to reinforce the material being presented, develop strong working relationships and provide a fun interactive experience.

Some of our customers provide pay incentives to employees who receive certification of completion. The additional knowledge and skill obtained from the training will have an impact on the employee's ability to perform their responsibilities in a highly effective and consistent manner. Employees with a higher level of skill and knowledge can be more valuable to your organization's bottom line.

Often, the first thing to get cut in the budget process is training.  As a result, Quantum has created the Q Points program to help offset the expense of training. Learn more in the Q Points section below.

The training program includes:

  • 17 Modules (currently, see below for topics)
  • Hands on live training with a Quantum Trainer
  • Workbook and supplementary materials
  • A fun interactive experience
  • Certificate of completion for each module attended with passing test score

Webinar Replays

Replays are recorded live webinars in video format that allow users to gain access to presented content on demand. The downside of replays is the lack of interactivity with the presenter, but this is offset by the anytime schedule, access to the content and discounted price.

As we build our library of course content, we will develop a menu of access options. These options will range from pay per one view of a single topic to unlimited viewing and access to the entire library.

Currently pricing for webinar replays varies depending upon topic, number of viewers and access plan.

Lab Best Practices
Quantum AR Lab Manual

Lab best practices training is an opportunity for your lab to improve coating processes and procedures which will lead to greater efficiency, improved performance, less breakage and ultimately improved profits. Our process technicians will observe your lab and work with personnel to create and implement an improvement plan.

Even if a lab has had this training, it is a great idea to have a refresher course with the addition of new personnel, equipment or products.

Contract customers will receive this training at the time of process install and have access to refresher courses at a discounted rate.

As an added benefit, labs with a contract or utilizing our Best Practices training will recieve a copy of Quantum's AR Coating Manual.

Contact us for more information or to schedule a training.

Independent Learning

We are currently building our content library, but every type of training we provide will be available in video or text format in our online learning environment.

Multiple pricing options will be available which range from pay per item to unlimited access to the entire library.

ABO CEU Courses

Great for coating education with additional benefits. ABO courses are coating centered, and can be great for new product launch events to bring in opticians. This is a win-win opportunity as opticians gain needed ABO CEU's and the lab can experience an increase in orders when opticians gain a better understanding of coatings and ways to sell them.

Please contact us for more information or to schedule a course.

AR Manual
Quantum AR Lab Manual

The Quantum AR Coating Manual was written with the goal of helping ophthalmic coating labs to produce high quality coatings for their customers. This goal is very broad in scope, but very attainable through simple methodology. That simple methodology is the adoption and implementation of standard best practices, processes and procedures for lab personnel to follow. The difference between producing a top-quality coating, as compared to a mediocre one, is often training, experience and adhered to practices and procedures.

Outlining many step by step procedures, best practices, basic troubleshooting, reference materials and checklists, Quantum's AR Coating Manual should be an essential tool used in your lab. To better assist you with locating information and to make updates much easier, the manual is organized as a series of modules which can be drop in replaced as updates become available. Additionally, there are reproducible checklists and user logs which can be used for reference and monitoring.

All contract customers receive a free copy of this manual with an accompanying onsite training as one of the many benefits of choosing Quantum for all of your coating needs. This manual is not available for purchase outside of a consumables contract.
